Hi, my name is Amanda. I’m a thirty-something writer and qualified pilot. I currently work full-time and try to fit travel into my schedule as much as possible.
If you’re looking for stories and advice on independent travel with a little comfort and flair, then you’re in the right place.
I currently work in the airline industry and am fortunate enough to have already travelled quite a bit in my short life. I’ve visited over 20 foreign countries and there are few places in Australia that I haven’t been to (even some that most wouldn’t want to visit).
My Travel Style
I used to be a backpacker, when I was a twenty-something. I backpacked in Canada, Europe and New Zealand before getting a ‘real job’.
Whilst I had an absolute blast backpacking, I’m getting a little older now! I still share the same passion for travel and adventure that a backpacker does, but as a thirty-something, I now value life’s little luxuries more. I want a little more style and comfort. So I have adopted the ‘flashpacker’ travel philosophy.
I travel a little with my beloved (pictured), and sometimes with friends, but mostly I choose to travel solo. I believe that independent and solo travel for women is becoming easier, safer and more common.
On this blog I share my experiences about independent travel and flashpacking, including the luxuries I value most – when I choose to splurge and how I budget in order to make the most of my travels.
Want to know more?
Like most travellers, I have goals. Places I want to visit and things I want to do (before I kick the bucket). Check out my travel goals (bucket list) here.
Or head over to my blog for my latest stories and photographs.
I am planning to embark on a big trip soon (details to be revealed) – and I’d love to have you along for the ride. To get blog updates and travel tips, subscribe via RSS or email (I promise not to spam you). Follow me on Twitter or Instagram, or like me on Facebook.
